PICTURE OUR MODERN CANAL BOAT
Jennifer May has been specifically designed and built to meet your needs, whether it’s a school group or a wedding party with aperitifs as our boat is fully licensed. We’re also the only boat on this stretch of the Avon that can take up to 60 people so it’s perfect for a full coach load. If you hire the whole boat for your groups exclusive use we can offer a choice of trips from 40mins to 1 1/2 hours, depending on availability.
Groups can arrange an earlier departure time of 10.15am with tours available every hour throughout the day. For our standard 40 min tours, refreshments such as ice creams, hot and cold drinks, cakes and scones can be arranged in advance for collection from the ice cream barge moored next to us and brought on board to enjoy during for your trip. Evening tours can also be arranged for groups of 20+ passengers.
PRIVATE HIRE
We are fully licensed and can arrange a bar, refreshments and finger buffet style food for private hire and functions (minimum hire period for the boat and crew is 1 hour and subject to availability, please contact us with your requirements).
Jennifer May was built in 2013 to the latest Maritime Coastguard Agency Regulations, making her one of the safest boats on inland waters in the UK. In addition to these regulations we have downloads on the links below giving you free and easy access to our risk and access information that will help you plan your visit with us.
Please contact us to discuss your booking, we will always try our best to fit with your plans to make a special day out for everyone.
SCHOOL TRIPS
KEEP CHILDREN OCCUPIED ON BOARD
We have plenty to keep children occupied on board, including a Quiz to accompany the light-hearted but educational commentary. See the downloadable files below. Questions and answers!
The Bancroft Gardens and canal basin are in the centre of town being an ideal area to relax and have a picnic. They’re also right in front of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. You can even buy ice creams, treats, hot and cold drinks from some of the boats moored here such as Shakee’s Ice Cream Barge.
Jennifer May is fully accessible with a wheelchair lift and disabled toilet. She seats up to 60 passengers and is heated, well-lit and runs for 365 days a year, weather permitting if you want to plan a trip out of season. In the summer months all of the side windows are removable so you can get even closer to the swans, coots and geese that often follow the boat along the river.
Most schools prefer the standard trip with the audio commentary but if it’s an exclusive trip and you want to create your own theme (pirates/fairies for example), we will be happy to welcome groups of children in full costume aboard our good ship!’
